Dover Pit Stalls = 16'wide by 27'long. Same issues as Lowe's with crew members having body parts out of the stall into pit road. Pit wall is the 2nd narrowest in NASCAR and easy to lose balance and step down into the pit stall early. If this happens the driver could be thrown off and the crewman will have to get back to the wall and make contact before working on the car...a reset of sorts...costs time. Otherwise, if he does not reset to the wall and works on the car the team will receive a pit road penalty.
The concrete is a bright white in the sunlight and tends to strain the eyes and used to give me a headache...couple that with tons of brake dust and the tire changers will be challenged all day.
Lugnuts that are the slightest bit loose will vibrate like crazy on concrete. Add to this the tremendous side load with 24degrees of banking. Entries and exits in the turns are violent and for every 100 miles in the race a driver's neck is violenty compressed and snapped 400 times. With that going on they certainly need all the wheels to be tight. With the longer studs that has been a challenge for the crews up to this point. Pit stops and tire management are key. We just might see a tire or two getting away from teams and getting out onto pit road.
